HORSE & CARRIAGE CAUSEWAY

*Horse & Carriage ONLY - pedestrians cross at their own risk*

Built to keep foot traffic separate from those travelling via coach and carriage, the City of Liathlidor(Grayhaven) devised a two-way, paved-slab causeway to accommodate horse-drawn transportation.  There are several access points, with ingress from the harbor leading into the Foreign Quarter and the southern road by way of the Kingdom Bridgeways, used the most. The causeway runs on a meandering track along the outer edges of each major city block, and connects the port, the  Citadel of Light, the Sparkling Market, and Foreign Quarter to one another.  It also provides coaches and carriages easier access to the road leading to the Kingdom Bridgeways.

Lord Travion Winterlow guided the blue roan mare absently along the causeway, the reins loose in his hands as the mare picked a path through the horse and carriage traffic.  He trusted her to find the best path and keep them from any potential danger, at the same time.  She was his favorite and best hunting horse, after all.

He ignored the group of courtesans who had chased after him in a bid for his attention.  After all, besides Lord Coel Montachade, Lord Travion Winterlow was considered the second most eligible bachelor of the Kingdom Bridgeways.  He figured he was considered second behind that snob, Coel, due to the fact that Travion would rather spend his time hunting instead of involving himself in the court intrigue or politics.  Still, he was a handsome chap, brawnier than most Elves, with a fair complexion, dark brown hair, and keen hazel eyes.

Nonetheless, despite his preference for hunting and such pastimes, Travion knew well enough to keep up appearances.  Which is why he'd let Lord Hadrian and Lady Siofra goad him into making an appearance for lunch at one of the fancy restaurants near the Citadel of Light, this afternoon.  Admittedly, it hadn't been all bad - he got along well with both the Lord of House Abossad and the Lady of House Roquessaeu.  While lunch had been the usual affair with plenty of sychphants hanging about and trying to curry favor with any of the noble houses, he was currently preoccupied with a conversation they'd had over canapes.

"Trav, you cannot go alone to the Syltamuls ball," Hadrian stated.  The dark haired Elf shook his head. "This Masquerade Ball they're throwing to," he paused, choosing his words carefully. "To, 'show off their latest conquest' is going to be too big.  You can't show up alone."

Travion sighed heavily. "Who do you propose, Hades?" he asked, quirking a brow at his fellow noble. "We both know how these things go, especially with the Syltamuls.  Nobody ever ends up with who they came with, so why even bother?"

"Travion," Siofra interjected before Hadrian could reply. "It's not about that.  It's about optics."  Travion scowled at her words.

"Take your current favourite courtesan for all I care," Hadrian said, almost exasperated. "I don't care and neither does anyone else.  Just take someone."  Travion knew that neither Hades or Siofra would drop it until he agreed in some way.

"Fine," he finally said with a heavy sigh. He waved a hand dismissively.  "I'll figure something out."

Thankfully, the two other nobles had dropped the subject after that and the rest of lunch had been enjoyable.

Thinking about it, however, made Travion frustrated.  He…he needed a drink.  And he knew just the spot - The Tree & Tankard in the Foreign Quarter.  He could go there with minimal recognition - or at least if he was recognized, he usually wasn't bothered too much.  Not like how he was hounded in other areas of the city.

Mind made up, Lord Travion Winterlow guided the mare towards the Foreign Quarter.
