How to Set up Your Storyline. After your Storyline submission has been approved by Admin ...

(1) Create a POST with your story's title, under Storyline Announcements. Here you can maintain details about who the writers are, whether more writers are welcome to join, and other details about the mechanics of your story's existence in the Appogia forums, in other words, this is the WRITER MANAGEMENT area. Update this post to invite Wordsmiths into the Storyline, add notes about your Storyline or notify members that the Storyline is Closed. Examples:
  • PROPOSED (Seeking Wordsmiths, please ask Story Coordinator to join.)
  • ONGOING (See Story Coordinator notes.)
  • COMPLETED (Closed, submitted for Publishing Review/Edit Processing, or just plain COMPLETED.)
  • PUBLISHED (Closed, as in finished.  Or, available for purchase online.)
(2) Then create a THREAD titled "Intro/OOC" under your storyline's subforum. Here you can maintain details about the characters, the plot(s), the conversations among the writers about where the story is going ... in other words, this is the STORY MANAGEMENT & WRITERS DISCUSSION area. Select "Stick Thread" from the "Inline Thread Moderation" dropdown menu for the Intro/OOC so it will always be at the top of your storyline's sub forum.

Then (3) most importantly! create a THREAD  titled "Chapter 1" (or whatever you like, really) under your storyline's subforum. Here is where you begin your story! Each writer in turn contributes to it. If you reach a natural breakpoint in the plot, you can start a new thread called "Chapter 2" (or whatever). Make sure to keep these threads in sequence; numbering them helps a lot (Chapter 1, 2, etc.).

See this Storyline for examples of Into/OOC and  Character Threads.

Have fun! This is YOUR story!

Regarding References to Fantasy

The Appogia storyworld exists as a speculative-future extension of our own real world. Much of what has occurred in our history, is in Appogia’s history. Future technology, e.g. faster-than-light travel or the time-bending longevity molecule, all centers on empirical scientific believability, not the supernatural or magical. Appogia at its core is science fiction. Characters in the Second thru Fourth Ages might believe that they are communing with elemental spirits or invoking other-dimensional powers, but the writers & readers must understand that these characters live within a superstition devolved from their space-faring ancestors’ knowledge of physical science.

In short: aliens, not elves & dragons; technology, not magic; and interstellar space, not mystic realms.  References to HeroicHigh or Low Fantasy should be filtered through Appogia’s roots in Gritty Fantasy expressed through a realm grounded in science fiction.
